Guitarist // Songwriter // Studio Musician // Performer
Ethan Ames has over a decade of experience as a performing and studio guitarist, bassist, songwriter, bandleader, recording artist, and guitar instructor. As a teacher of both adults and children, he combines advanced knowledge of music theory, guitar technique, ear training, improvisation, songwriting, and production with years of real-world experience as a professional musician and a deep passion for music as an artistic medium.
His teaching philosophy centers on nurturing the spark of inspiration and emotional connection that makes someone want to play music in the first place. Rather than forcing students into a rigid, one-size-fits-all framework, Ames believes every student’s relationship with music is deeply personal and unique. Through lesson plans that balance music theory and guitar technique with creativity and self-expression, he encourages students to think critically, listen deeply, trust their instincts, and explore what makes music personally meaningful and inspiring to them.
